A UPFC‐based robust damping controller for optimal use of renewable energy sources in modern renewable integrated power systems

This paper proposes coordinated design of wide-area damping controller (WADC) in the presence renewable energy resources a large-scale power system. To tackle with constant and time-varying delays system, robust criterion based on H∞ has been used for WADC design. By using an auxiliary function Lyapunov function, conservatism linear inequality matrix (LMI) is reduced, such that larger delay margin feasibility region obtained delays. The wind farms here are composed doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) squirrel-cage (SCIG), which connected to common bus photovoltaic (PV) system by unified flow (UPFC). Then, units integrated 10 16-machine systems. Afterwards, identifying oscillating modes, carried out rotor-side-converter (RSC) DFIG, DC/AC converter PV units, shunt (SHC) UPFC, stabilizer (PSS). Different scenarios operating conditions considered evaluate performance proposed approach. simulations analysis toolbox (PSAT) programming MATLAB demonstrate effectiveness conducted method.
